Annotell is a fast-growing startup with a mission to provide the world's best platform to make safe perception for autonomous mobility happen. An important step in this process is to express what kind of ground truth to annotate in the underlying data together with cost and quality requirements. Understanding the production of high quality data is difficult, and requires a platform capable of guiding these decisions

We want to empower our customers to confidently and effectively manage all of these aspects while ensuring they can achieve safe perception. We're at the beginning of this journey and have decided to dedicate an entire product area to get there – Self-Serve Platform.

What you'll do

Up until recently, we've relied on a back-office platform to administer and manage all aspects related to ground-truth specification, cost and quality management, as well as project administration. Our goal is to refine and add these components and workflows into our main platform, enabling customers to perform more and more of these actions themselves.

This will include a mixture of greenfield development and leveraging existing systems. An interesting challenge is how to provide an intuitive and easy-to-use platform without restricting the processes and workflows too much.

You will be a part of a cross-functional team consisting of frontend developers, backend developers and product designers. Together you will interact with internal and external users of the Annotell platform, learn about their core needs and then connect these to how the platform should be developed. What to reuse, retool and rebuild will be key considerations – both on a technical and conceptual level.

Working in a growth environment like Annotell means that you sometimes have to act under uncertainty. In return, you will be able to have a big impact on defining the organisation and the Self-Serve product.

Our tech stack

We use modern tools, and our web app is modularly built using TypeScript and React. We employ a microservice architecture and write our backend services with Scala and Python. Communication between systems is handled either via REST APIs or PubSub. The complete solution is delivered using Kubernetes on Google Cloud. For data storage we use a combination of Postgres, ElasticSearch and Google Cloud Storage.

Who you are

Suitable candidates for this position have a proven track record of developing backend systems and APIs according to a microservice architecture, as well as hands-on experience with stream processing systems like Kafka or PubSub. You're comfortable when it comes to domain-driven design, having successfully applied it in the past, while also realising that it's not a silver bullet when it comes to creating maintainable software systems. Previous experience in Scala or functional programming is a bonus, but we believe that as long as you are knowledgeable in any high-level programming language you will be able to learn Scala fairly quickly.

This is a hybrid-remote position, requiring you to be at our Gothenburg office at least a couple of times per month.
